Venoruton forte contains O-(2-hydroxyethyl)-rutoside (oxerutin), which helps to normalise the function of the smallest blood vessels (capillaries) by increasing the resistance of their walls and reducing their permeability. In patients suffering from varicose veins or certain other diseases of the leg veins, these small vessels lose too much water, causing the ankles to swell.

Venoruton forte brings relief by reducing this swelling and alleviating the symptoms that generally accompany it, such as aching, tired or heavy legs and cramps. Venoruton forte can also be used for haemorrhoids on the recommendation of a doctor, pharmacist or chemist. In the case of haemorrhoids, Venoruton forte causes a rapid and lasting reduction in swelling of the mucous membrane of the anus and relieves symptoms such as pain, oozing, itching and bleeding.

The preparation can also be used on the recommendation of a doctor in the case of side effects following radiotherapy and in certain diseases of the retina (e.g. diabetic retinopathy).
