Softigyn contains Lactobacillus plantarum 17630 as the active ingredient. This bacterium, which normally colonises the vagina of healthy women, prevents the development of other bacteria that can cause disease (pathogenic microorganisms).
Softigyn is used in adult women to restore and protect the physiological vaginal flora, for example
- in case of signs of vaginal inflammation (vaginitis) such as itching, burning or vaginal discharge;
- during or after local or systemic treatment with anti-infectives;
- for the prevention of recurrent vaginitis.
Treatment with Softigyn does not replace the use of antibiotics or antimyotics in cases where such treatment is indicated.
