Omed antacid Sandoz capsules (a drug from the group of "proton pump inhibitors") contain the active ingredient omeprazole and lead to a reduction in gastric acid production by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for acid secretion.
The acids normally produced by the stomach allow adequate digestion of food. For various reasons, however, there can be an increased secretion of stomach acid, which can be perceived as a burning sensation in the stomach (acid stomach/hyperacidity). When acidic stomach contents return to the oesophagus (acid regurgitation), so-called heartburn may occur, a painful or burning sensation just below the breastbone or in the throat.
Omed antacid Sandoz capsules are used for the short-term treatment of heartburn and acid regurgitation in adults and adolescents over 18 years of age.
