Curanel nail varnish is a medicinal product for the external treatment of fungal infections (mycoses) of the nails. Curanel nail polish is used without a doctor's prescription to treat nail mycoses on the front and side edges of the nail (as shown in Figure 1 below) if no more than two nails are affected. If the infection looks similar to Figures No. 2 or No. 3 (where more than just the front and side edges of the nail are affected), you should consult a doctor.

Nail mycosis is usually associated with a white, yellow or brown discolouration and thickening of the nail, although the appearance of the infection can vary greatly.

The active ingredient amorolfine contained in Curanel nail polish inhibits the growth of the fungi and kills them. Curanel nail polish is effective against various types of fungi, such as yeasts, the actual skin fungi (dermatophytes) and moulds. However, bacteria are not sensitive to Amorolfin.
