The active ingredient of Colpermin consists of natural peppermint oil, which is extracted from the aerial parts of Mentha piperita L. (peppermint). Colpermin capsules contain peppermint oil with its main ingredient menthol, embedded in a paste-like base. Colpermine is used symptomatically in cases of intestinal hyperexcitability, particularly in the colon (irritable colon), intestinal cramps, especially colonic cramps, as well as bloating and flatulence. To ensure that the peppermint oil can develop its effect locally in the intestine, each capsule is coated with a protective film that is resistant to gastric juice and prevents premature release of the peppermint oil in the stomach.
