Bitumol 20% is used as a traction ointment due to its active ingredient ammonium bituminosulphonate (ichthammolum). The ointment has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effect.
Bitumol 20% is used for deeper, non-specific, inflammatory skin diseases such as boils, carbuncles, nail wall inflammation (nail circulation) and sweat gland abscesses.
In the case of purulent skin processes, it accelerates the melting of the centre of the disease and the breakthrough of the pus to the outside in the advanced stage of inflammation.
