Rivaroxaban Viatris 10 mg 10 Filmtabletten

Rivaroxaban Viatris is a medicine that inhibits blood clotting. The active ingredient in Rivaroxaban Viatris - rivaroxaban - inhibits the activity of a specific factor (factor Xa) in the coagulation system and thus prevents the formation of blood clots in the veins (= thrombi) or can be used to treat existing thrombi in the lungs and/or leg veins. Larger blood clots can block the veins and prevent blood circulation (= thrombosis). They can also break loose and travel via the circulatory system to the lungs, where they block smaller and larger blood vessels (pulmonary embolism) and thus significantly impair the function of the lungs. Blood clots can also form in the heart under certain circumstances. If they break loose, they can block blood vessels in the brain (stroke) or in other organs and parts of the body (systemic embolisms).

Various factors can favour the formation of a blood clot.

Rivaroxaban Viatris is used in adults,

• to prevent the formation of blood clots after major operations on the lower extremities (e.g. hip and knee operations).
• to treat blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolisms) and/or in the deep veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis) and to prevent blood clots from forming again in the leg veins and pulmonary embolisms.
• to prevent the occurrence of blood clots in the brain (stroke) and other blood vessels in your body in the case of existing non-valvular atrial fibrillation (atrial fibrillation not caused by a heart valve defect).

Rivaroxaban Viatris film-coated tablets may only be used if prescribed by a doctor.
