Product details
Creon contains the active ingredient pancreatin with the enzymes important for the digestion of food (lipase, amylase and protease) in concentrated form. These break down the fats, proteins and carbohydrates contained in food into usable components.
On the advice of a doctor, pharmacist or chemist, Creon can also be used to treat or supplement inadequate pancreatic function, i.e, in the event of a deficiency or absence of digestive enzymes, e.g. after acute pancreatitis at the start of resumption of food or artificial nutrition, chronic pancreatitis, cystic pancreatic fibrosis or after surgical interventions in the digestive tract.
Creon contains pancreatin in the form of so-called micropellets. These are filled in capsules that dissolve in the stomach within a few minutes.
The digestive enzymes are only released from the micro-pellets in the small intestine and rapidly break down fats, proteins and carbohydrates. The digestive products of the food can now be absorbed from the intestine, just like the natural digestive process.
